We have been in existence for a century, and our beginnings were modest in a garage on Francuska Street in the center of Belgrade, it was a workshop for repairing precision mechanical devices and telephones, which at the time were a marvel of technology.
Today’s factory at this location in Zemun has 14,000 square meters equipped with the most modern machines and devices and over 200 employees. The company has gone through various phases during its hundred-year history, beginning with a period of significant and rapid development in the 1970s, when “Teleoptik” produced key aircraft components as well as some of the most advanced anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles of the time. In the 1990s, however, the company faced difficult and challenging times due to the broader crisis, which left serious consequences.
A slight recovery followed in the 2000s, and the most significant technological leap the company made was based on investments in equipment and devices in 2017, financed by the Republic of Serbia through the Ministry of Defense.
The production program consists of:
1. Development and production of optical instruments and sighting devices, silencers for various calibers of rifles and pistols
2. Guidance and control of missiles and missile systems (TV homing heads 200mm, TV-IR homing heads 175mm, “Arrow 2M, “Arrow 10”, Autopilot “A-200” for a programmed missile target, “Grom”, “Drug”, homing heads for the “ALAS” missile system)
3. Armored combat vehicle equipment, as well as gyroscopes and gyroscopic devices (for M-84, M-84A tanks), special measuring and testing equipment, optical devices, etc.
4. Aircraft and helicopter components and equipment for domestic aircraft (Gazelle helicopter, Jastreb – J21, Orao J-22, Super Galeb G-4, Sailplanes, Utva-75, Lasta 95 trainer aircraft); Teleoptik-Gyroscopes took an active part in the modernization of the “ORAO” attack aircraft. The “Orao” modernization project is currently one of the most significant state projects. We proudly highlight our participation in the complete modernization of the completely new development of hardware and software, navigation and communication systems.
5. NANOTECHNOLOGY – after reviewing the current market situation and conducting a detailed analysis related to surface protection of materials, we decided to improve the tactical and technical characteristics and quality of our products. The company “Teleoptik-Gyroscopes” has always been a pioneer in the development, testing and conquest of new technologies in its long and rich history. In order to increase the anti-corrosion, anti-friction, heat-resistant and other types of various materials protection, we have equipped ourselves with the only machine of it’s type in the Balkans – ROTAMAT, for the application of nanotechnology, which enables the serial process of applying NANO protection to a wide range of materials (steel, bronze, brass, aluminum alloys, plastic, rubber, wood.
In addition to the basic production program, we provide service and repair services for both our own and related programs (gyroblocks for M-84, M-84A tanks).
As part of the development, active work was carried out on improving the gunpowder gyroscope for the “Bumbar” anti-armor system program and the -0.5 KW permanent magnet generator in cooperation with the Military Technical Institute.
The Government of the Republic of Serbia has recognized the technological potential of Teleoptik-Gyroscope and has invested significant funds in the modernization of production capacities in the last few years. The machine shop is equipped with the most modern lathes, milling machines, and machining centers. Our facilities create the most complex 3D models of system components in the fields of optoelectronics, avionics, and rocket technology.
As a result of investments in modern equipment, new technologies were introduced today, including nanoparticle-based surface protection, printed circuit board production, and automated component application. Additionally, the “clean room” for final adjustments and assembly of optical and optoelectronic systems was renovated and fully equipped.
Among the companies in the defense industry, “Teleoptik – Gyroscopes” has the potential to be a leader in the development and production of high-tech devices and components, as well as a key player in the manufacturing of guided missile systems and fire control systems for the needs of the Serbian Armed Forces and the broader market.
The company is a significant partner to other companies in the Defense Industry, producing sighting devices for mortars, optical devices for combat vehicles, as well as optoelectronic systems and fire control systems.
